2) STRANGE HUMANOID CREATURE FOUND IN PUERTO RICO

Jorge Martin, Puerto Rico's top UFO investigator, announced at the 
International UFO Congress in Nevada that the dead body of a small, somewhat 
humanoid creature had been found by an unidentified person near the town of 
Salinas, Puerto Rico.

According to Martin, in approximately 1983, two young men were exploring a 
cave area in the hills above Salinas, when out of a cave came several very 
small creatures. They were only 12 to 14 inches tall, stood upright, and had 
disproportionately large heads. They seemed intent on attacking one of the 
young men. In a panic, he grabbed a nearby stick and beat one of the 
creatures on the head. It fell down, and the others ran back into the cave. 
The fallen creature evidently died of a crushed skull. The young men fled 
back to town, taking the body with them.

Martin said the body was first taken to the local police. There was an 
immediate investigation to determine if the creature was a human infant. It 
was not. Nor, according to Martin's sources, was it any other known 
life-form. After determining that no crime had been committed, the police 
turned the body over to another man for safe-keeping. The body was placed in 
a large jar of formaldehyde, where it remains today.

Photos shown by Martin reveal that the creature has a dwarf-like face, very 
large mouth, almost no ears, and long spindly arms with four clawed fingers, 
no thumb, and apparent webbing between the fingers. The skull appears to be 
crushed in the right rear area.

Martin said the young men reported hearing rapid squeaking noises from the 
creatures, but there is no way to know if this was language.

The police officer who handled the initial investigation was ordered to say 
nothing, according to his wife. He was later killed in the line of duty. 
Access to the caves above Salinas was recently restricted by the military, 
Martin said, although he believes he will be allowed to investigate the 
caves at some time in the future.

The person holding the body has so far been unwilling to release it for 
public examination, although at least 25 photos have been distributed. 
Martin said he was personally convinced that the body is genuine, but he has 
no idea what kind of creature it is.

Martin also said there are numerous reports in Puerto Rico of encounters 
with dwarf-like humanoid beings, akin to reports of "little people" in 
Ireland and elsewhere. It is possible, he said, that this body is the first 
solid proof that such small humanoids really exist.
