This is the README for 'CD-Writer for IRIX' version 0.2.

Amsterdam, June 9th 2005.

What is CD-Writer?

CD-Writer is a small applet that wraps mkisofs and cdrecord with a shiny
SGI-Motif UI and a progress bar.

What can CD-Writer do as of version 0.2?

1. Write a bunch of files to an ISO disk-image
2. Write a bunch of files to a CD-R
3. Allow you to specify 'Joliet' and 'Rationalise' options of mkisofs
4. Allow you to specify 'eject', 'dummy' and 'speed' options of cdrecord
5. Save these options as preferences

How does one install CD-Writer?

1. Put CD-Writer where you like, but I've put a reference in my .chestrc
2. Use whatever folder you want to collect your to-be-burnt files,
I use $HOME/.CDRW and link that onto my Desktop.
3. Tell CD-Writer where your mkisofs and cdrecord binaries are.
4. Save your preferences.

How does one use CD-Writer?

1. Stick a bunch of files in your to-be-burnt files folder.
2. Select a device on the Recorder tab.
3. Set Speed, Eject, rRtionalise and Joliet options
4. Choose 'Actions->Write' from the menu.

CAVEATS:

1. CD-Writer is still being developed. It works, but v0.2 is FRAGILE.
2. The progress dialog doesn;t show that it's fixating.
3. Some options and toggles in the UI aren't hooked up yet.
4. No checks on the data entered in the applet text-entry boxes.
5. No checks if there's more than 700Mb data in your data source-folder.

Enjoy!
