toolbox/src/exampleCode/video/vidin README
vidin is a simple Motif-hack implementing an OpenGL-based videoin.
It has been tested on Indy VINO, O2 analog+digital, and
Octane Divo. It should work on nearly all SGI IRIX-based
video-hw. It allows one to resize the window to any
preferrred geometry.
Profiling/pixie:
pixie ./vidin
AND additionally -- only on INDY -- run:
pixie /usr/lib32/dmedia/video/vino.so
mv vino.so.pxie vino.so.pixn32
export _VL_DEBUG=1
export _VL_ROOT=.
./vidin.pixie
Be aware of the following things:
* it's ugly and at some parts 'unusual' --- but well commented,
as it was one of my early self-written programms for video-hacking.
* the GUI framework is made with an ugly GUI-design-tool, which puts
a lot of annoying GERMAN comments into the source code (vv.c)
* check out with and without -DDEBUG in the Makefile
(DEBUG output can be very annoying)
* lots of MOTIF-gimmicks inside, like:
- stop videoin on iconification (and restart on window-restore)
- FREE resize to every size you like ! - can become slooooow !
* as it's OpenGL-based, it works over networks, but very very slowly !
(quarter-sized it's quite usable)
* X11 EventProcessing is not solved well. (GUI response is a bit sloow)
(for this i have some ideas, but currently i'm too lazy for this)
