Current Sendmail Release

Sendmail^TM 8.11.2 is available from FTP.Sendmail.ORG. This version includes bug fixes for 8.11.1, which included support for STARTTLS and SMTP AUTH encryption. The release has a gzipped tar file and a PGP signature file. The uncompressed tar file is signed by the 2000 signing key. (See also our list of mirrors.)

The previous release is Sendmail^TM 8.11.1.

An important security announcement has been released regarding a Linux kernel bug in versions up to and including 2.2.15.
An important security announcement has been released regarding the AIX 4.X linker. AIX sendmail 8.10.0 users should follow the instructions in the announcement. A workaround has been included in sendmail 8.10.1.

Sendmail, Inc. is offering a commercial version of sendmail 8.10/8.11. In addition to all of the 8.10/8.11 features it provides automated binary installation and graphical configuration and management tools.

Version 8.10 represents the largest new feature release in sendmail's history. New features include:

SMTP Authentication, allowing users to use cryptographic authentication in SMTP to gain additional privileges, such as ability to relay.
Performance improvements, including multiple queues, memory-buffered pseudo-files, and more control over resolver timeouts.
Support for "message submission agent", as defined by RFC 2476.
Ability to connect to servers running on named sockets.
Changes to support IPv6.
Better LDAP integration and support for LDAP-based routing.
Improved support for virtual hosting.
Even better anti-spam control features.
Several new map classes, including ph, arith, and macro.
